Multi Metophioceras Ammonite Fossil - Monmouth Beach Jurassic Coast

This piece exhibits four Metophioceras conybeari ammonites preserved on an aesthetically sculpted matrix that includes other fragmentary ammonites that are indicative of the sea floor conditions before fossilisation.

The ammonites are of a convenient size measuring 12 cm, 9.5 cm, 5.5 cm and 4.5 cm respectively. The probably represent the Micro conch ( Male )specimens due to their size the Macro conch (Female) ammonites tend to be much larger. The matrix measures approximately 40 cm in length.

  Restoration

This piece does have a repair to the matrix where two parts have been glued back together.

The piece originates from the Bucklandi Zone, Lower Lias, Lower Jurassic, Monmouth Beach, Nr. Lyme Regis, Dorset, England. Age: 200 Million Years Old
