Triple Metophioceras Ammonite Fossil - Monmouth Beach Jurassic Coast
This piece exhibits three Metophioceras ammonites they are one of the more challenging ammonites to prepare due to the thin shell and fragile centres.
The ammonites are of a convenient size measuring 12 cm 9.5 cm and 8 cm respectively. The probably represent the Micro conch ( Male )specimens due to their size the Macro conch (Female) ammonites tend to be much larger.
RestorationPart of the outer keel to the larger ammonite has been carved circling towards the mouth border. The centres are natural.
The piece originates from the Bucklandi Zone, Lower Lias, Lower Jurassic, Monmouth Beach, Nr. Lyme Regis, Dorset, England. Age: 200 Million Years Old
