Limited Edition - Commemorative Megalosaurus Dinosaur Jaw

This is a replica fossil, cast from the original fossil of the famous Megalosaurus jaw and teeth which was originally discovered by William Buckland in a quarry near Oxford in the UK.
The jaw is mounted on a seasoned walnut wood base accompanied by a collectible commemorative coin set into it from the 'Tales of the Earth' Royal Mint range.

Buckland wrote a paper on his find which described for the first time, a type of animal, we know now as Dinosaurs.

The find was named Megalosaurus meaning 'great lizard' however it wasn't until 20 years later Sir Richard Owen coined the name Dinosaur meaning 'terrible lizard'.

This replica measures 28.5 cm x 13.5 cm x 3 cm and is handmade and painted.

Please allow for some variation in the painting and colours.
