Rare Euaspidoceras ammonite
Middle Oxfordian (Jurassic)
This wonderful rare ammonite has been prepared with most of the spikes intact. One has been completely restored the others as preserved. Some rock has been left on the spikes to strengthen them and all have been coated in a thin layer of superglue as part of the preparation process. Please also see preparation images.
Ammonites from this locality are difficult to prepare due to the hardness of the rock and high number of broken shells etc that are mixed in with the matrix.
This ammonite measures 14.5 cm at its widest point at its widest point.
