Ophthalmosaur icemcus front paddle, part of a nearly complete uncrushed specimen recovered from Stewartbly brick pit in Bedfordshire in the early 2000’s.
Among the very last of the ichthyosaurs to live, Ophthalmosaurs were superbly refined and adapted marine predators earning their name from having the largest eyes relative to body size currently known of any vertebrate.
The original specimen is from the Oxfordian Jurassic period, 155-160MYA in age
