This Bedfordshire Jurassic Oxfordian Plesiosaur tail piece, is probably from the Plesiosaur species cryptoclidus.

The bone preservation is exceptional even for the locality and four of the vertebra are in their original undisturbed articulated positions.

All the bones were found together and one of the bones has a healed injury on its surface.

The tail is mounted on a strong wooden board that has been textured with resin and painted.

The vertebra themselves have no restoration or repair.

The tail vertebra measure 97 cm x 23 cm
